Believe it or not, we all have pain – it is what we do about it that counts. It is inevitable that we will cycle into and out of pain – it is what we do about it that counts.
Even Pain Resolution Therapists have pain. Again let me stress that it is what we do about it that counts. Do we mask it with drugs and temporary relief, or are we willing to work at the root cause and correct the imbalance?
A couple of years ago I hurt myself during an exercise class. How did that happen?
I was moving quickly and I was not fully present to what my body was telling me. In fact, as I reflect back I realize now that my body was talking to be before I even went into class. Yet, I chose not to listen and did an exercise that I knew was not good for me. By the time I got home I could not get out of my car because I was in so much pain.
Things proceeded to get worse to the point that I could not roll over in bed or sit comfortably in a chair. I even had to ask my daughter to shave my legs for me because I could not bend over!
I was worried for two reasons: first, I have Herniated a disc in the past and second, I was about to leave for a weekend Meditation/SomaYoga Retreat that was a two and a half hour drive away.
I immediately began practicing SomaYoga exercises and found enough relief that I was able to take the long drive to the retreat without incident.
Over the weekend I continued to practice. Each day I moved better, felt less pain and slept better. Even though my injury was serious and extremely painful I was progressing well in just a matter of a weekend.
With a SomaYoga practice I was able to take control of my own healing and in just four days I transitioned from a pain score of 10/10 and impaired mobility to a 3/10 pain score and significantly improved mobility.
